The MVAA (Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency) wants all Veterans to know that emergency relief funding for Michigan Veterans (CVSF-ER) County Veteran Service Fund Emergency Relief) is available to help Veterans hit hard financially by COVID-19.

  

Through mid-June, 16 counties had secured CVSF-ER grants, while four other counties were working to secure the grants, for a working total of $1.33 million. The deadline for counties to apply is June 30.


 Counties that have secured CVSF-ER funding thus far are Calhoun, Eaton, Genesee, Gladwin, Gogebic, Ionia, Iosco, Kalamazoo, Kent, Marquette, Midland, Missaukee, Muskegon, Oakland, Wayne, and Wexford. Counties working to secure CVSF-ER funding are Cheboygan, Isabella, Mecosta, and Roscommon.

 

Veterans can find the Veteran Service Office in their county and learn more about CVSF-ER requirements and what may be available in their area here and then clicking on the relevant county. Questions can also be directed to the MVAA’s Veteran Resource Service Center, which is available 24/7 at 1-800-MICH-VET.


Post members please share this information with Veterans you know who may be hurting to pay some of those utility bills, fix roofs, pay car notes, rent, or mortgages.    Funds are available in the TRI-Counties if you need help CALL.  Their offices are open.


The Michigan Veterans Trust Fund provides emergency grants to Michigan veterans and dependent family members to help them weather short-term financial crisis.

DD-214 Requests
Veterans or their next of kin with proof of death of the veteran such as a copy of death certificate, letter from funeral home or published obituary can request DD-214 military service records free of charge through MVAA. An online DD-214 Request Form needs to be completed, signed and submitted to MVAA.

A request form can also be downloaded and either faxed to 517-284-5297 or emailed to MVAAResourceCenter@michigan.gov.

Wayne County Veteran's Services

Mission

The purpose of the Veteran Services Group is to provide financial hardship and support services to Wayne County honorably discharged veterans and their families so they can meet their basic needs.
Programs

•    Veteran Financial Hardship Services
The purpose of the Veteran Financial Hardship Services Program is to provide temporary emergency financial assistance to Wayne County honorably discharged indigent wartime veterans, their spouses, and dependent children so they can meet their immediate needs.

•    Veteran Support Services
The purpose of the Veteran Support Services Program is to provide burial assistance, job referrals, and Veterans Administration compensation/disability applications services to Wayne County eligible veterans and their families will apply for assistance so they can receive additional benefits and secure employment.

Wayne County Veteran Services Division provides assistance with funeral expenses. 


Those veterans and spouses with assets less than $40,000 excluding the family residence, are eligible.


The veteran must have received an Honorable 

Discharge from the United States Armed Forces, with at least 90 days of recognized war time service.


 Spouses of veterans are not eligible for government marker.


The county of Wayne will provide up to $1000.00 toward burial benefits and $50.00 toward the cost of installing a Government Marker.

3. Itemized Funeral Bill

4. Proof of Marriage

5. Complete Information Regarding Assets
